What are Traineeships / Apprenticeships?
An Apprenticeship / Traineeship is an opportunity for someone to work full-time or part-time whilst undertaking training to achieve a Nationally Recognised Qualification. At the beginning of the Apprenticeship / Traineeship, the Apprentice / Trainee and Employer will sign a Training Contract that is registered with the Qld Department of Employment & Training. By signing this contract the Apprentice / Trainee and Employer agree to uphold certain Roles & Responsibilities. These include: observing the employers instructions, participating in the training, confidentiality of information.

Our goal is to ensure both employers and employee/s, not only have a positively rewarding experience out of the Traineeship, but the program also offers some long-term benefits to the employer’s future strategies on recruitment and training of new staff. Commonwealth Incentives may also be available for Employers taking on a Trainee.
Our completion rate of over 90% is attributed to our ability to provide high quality, flexible training, support throughout the term of the traineeship and regular visits to monitor the trainee’s progress. We can also assist the employer by organising the traineeship paperwork to be signed.

Support staff are available once a week for meeting with students to check progress and support any issues they are facing.

• How long does the Traineeship / Apprenticeship last?
The nominal duration for Traineeships is 12 - 24 months and Apprenticeship is 48 months (4 years)
• How often does the Trainee / Apprentice attend training?
Training is a combination of on and off-the-job training and can vary depending on the qualification you are undertaking.
• How do I find a Traineeship / Apprenticeship?
To commence a Traineeship / Apprenticeship, you need to find an employer who wants to employ and train you. You can do this by registering with Sarina Russo Job Access. They have locations all over Brisbane. Find your nearest Sarina Russo Job Access office or call 13 15 59.
• What does a Trainee / Apprentice get paid?
Trainees / Apprentices usually receive a Training Wage. To find out more about these wages contact Wageline on 1300 369 945 1300 369 945 or visit www.wageline.qld.gov.au.
• Are there any costs involved?
The Qld Department of Employment & Training funds the majority of training for most Apprenticeships & Traineeships (*NB – criteria does apply). If the Apprenticeship / Traineeship is funded by the Government, there is a small Tuition Fee involved as the Apprentice / Trainee’s contribution towards the Qualification. In some cases a 75% discount may apply. Please contact us for further information.
If the Apprenticeship / Traineeship is not funded by the Government, the Employer will pay for the Fees associated with the Apprenticeship / Traineeship. This is called Fee-for-Service. NB – there are no Tuition Fees levied to the Apprentice / Trainee in this instance.
• If the Trainee / Apprentice is under 18, do the parents / guardian need to sign the forms?
Yes, until they turn 18, their parent/guardian is involved in the Traineeship / Apprenticeship.
