First established in 1998, Institute of Film and TV began with a mission to provide education for the television industry locally in Queensland, Australia. Later on it purchased Optus Vision (local TV station in Brisbane) television facilities to enhance and develop its training environment.
Institute of Film and TV is a proud partner of Australian College of Information Technology (ACIT) which provides resources and specialist IT infrastructure to support to run the courses. IFTV primary aim is to provide students with professional qualification in Diploma of Screen and Media and assist in placement of internships in Film & TV industry in Hollywood.
Unlike any other college in Australia, the Institute of Film and TV offers a unique training program that allows students to be studying in two continents and to experience an internship in Hollywood the heart of the film industry. This training program is designed not only to obtain a prestigious qualification but to gain valuable experience firsthand in Hollywood.
The Diploma of Screen and Media offers professional and academic instruction in the arts and sciences of motion pictures and television. The course aims to give the student knowledge of the technical, creative, and business aspects of the film/television industries. This includes practical hands-on training in the operation of professional equipment and state-of-the-art techniques.
The course aims to produce artists with technical proficiency and technicians who are also artists. Students are required to choose Gold Coast or Brisbane campus in Australia and must be prepared to travel and live in Los Angeles California, U.S.A. for a period of 12months.
Part of training is conducted in Los Angeles giving the students the best opportunity to be connected and be trained by Hollywood professionals and be interning in Hollywood scene. Students will be given opportunity to take part in working unpaid experience in Film & TV internship programs with Hollywood companies, participate in film festival and be taught by professionals from this amazing industry.
Sponsorship working holiday visa program is recommended for working in America while studying. Students will be assisted with information regarding living, accommodation & transportation and obtaining Study loans from government and private organisations.
The internships are arranged by the College through its agency in Los Angeles. As an intern the student performs the duties of an apprentice in a work environment. Before working as a professional, it is crucial to have real world industry experience. That is why internships are very important for students.
